The Chameleon Collective. Doesn't really sound like a common name for a tea brand, does it? Many brands usually opt for names that have the product name (tea) in it. And while I draw inspiration from pretty much anything and everything, I wanted this to stand out.
So how did the name come about?
Introduced to Sri Lanka (Ceylon) in the latter 1800's, tea is referred to as many things. But as you may (or may not) know, the botanical name for tea is camellia sinensis.
I was playing around with that, trying to come up with something original, but relatable to tea as a whole. Toying with the word camellia drove me to ‘chameleon’, and I felt that this fit the essence of what I wanted the brand to be perfectly - vibrant, eye-catching, and perfect for any and all occasions. Adaptable, like a chameleon when it changes colour according to its surroundings, I always envisioned recreating the blends most are familiar with, and curating teas that fit numerous occasions, and also cater to many demographics.
Coffee-culture is intensely popular among teens and young adults, so why can't tea be too? Many in that age bracket think of tea as more of a "older" drink, something that "adults" would sip on. But it doesn't have to be! My goal is to make blends that don't fix that box. Teas that people long for after a long day, or think of as their morning go-to drink. Fun, unusual, perfect for any and all occasions, and oh-so delicious.
Thus, the name The Chameleon Collective was born.
